Pauline Armstrong (Whitehead)
N. Pauline (Whitehead) Armstrong, 95, of Iowa Park, Texas passed away Thursday,
August. 9, 2018, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne, Texas. Visitation will be from
6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Pauline was born April 16, 1923 in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas to Lon G. Whitehead and Maggie Elizabeth (Easdon) Whitehead.
She married William Drayton “Bill” Armstrong in July 1940. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 2008 after 68 years of marriage.
She and Bill resided in Nemo, Texas, Seagraves, Texas, West Plains, Missouri and Iowa Park, Texas. As members of the Church of Christ, they were faithful attendees at the churches in those areas.
Pauline attended school in Cleburne and studied music as a teenager, playing the violin. She began sewing clothes for her sisters while a teenager and became an accomplished seamstress. As an adult, Pauline sewed for the public for 20 years. She was a quilter and made many patchwork quilts into her 90’s. She enjoyed crochet, tatting, and embroidery. Pauline was an avid gardener and had a vegetable garden even in the last summer of her life. Pauline gave much of the fruits of her labor in the garden away to family and friends.
Also, preceding Pauline in death were her parents; brother, Robert Whitehead; and sisters, Jessie Skinner and Tommie Coffey, all of Cleburne.
Pauline is survived by two daughters, Barbara Williams and husband, Lee, of New Martinsville, West Virginia and Loretta Filler and husband, Ralph, of Wichita Falls; one sister, Earline Cudd and husband, Kenneth, of Corpus Christi, Texas; two brothers, Earl Whitehead and wife, Katherine and Lonnie Whitehead and wife, Inetta, all of Cleburne; six grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and five great- great- grandchildren.
