Obituary for Scott Robert Aten

Funeral services for Scott Robert Aten, 56, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at The Heights Church in Cleburne with Pastor Stephen McCoy officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Scott passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was born on July 31, 1960 in Pierre, South Dakota to Wilbur and Lois (Hamilton) Aten.
Scott grew up in Brownsville, Texas and graduated from Valley Christian High School in 1978, a school co-founded by his father.
Moving to Cleburne in 1986, he married Lisa Stanley in 1986, always referring to her as his “childhood bride”. They raised their family in Cleburne.
His work included Riverview Golf Club; and recently Wal-Mart in Cleburne and Dr. Pepper in Irving.
Scott was a devoted family man. He was a true sports enthusiast and loved everything from bowling, golf, and auto sports to his beloved Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
The delights of his life were his three grandsons. His zest for life was in serving the Lord through his singing and writing songs. He was a former member of the worship team at The Heights Church.
Scott will be dearly missed for his love and kindness to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Scott is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa Aten of Cleburne; daughters, Lindsay Aten and Kelsay Aten (Deveon Mayberry), both of Cleburne; brothers, Mark Aten of Los Fresnos, Texas: Lane Aten and wife, Mary, and Todd Aten and wife, Leigh, all of Brownsville, TX; three grandsons, Kanyn, Bryceson, and Dawson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
