Willena Athans (Crook)
Willena Crook Athans, 87, loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 20, 2011, with family by her side.
Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at New Hope Baptist Church with burial to follow in Baker-Lain Cemetery.
Willena was born in Cleburne, Texas on April 5, 1924, the third of seven children, to Albert and Lena Crook. She graduated from Cleburne High School in 1941, then moved to Fort Worth where she married and raised her family.
Willena was a hard-working woman who loved to garden and sew. But most of all, she loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She lived her faith every day and was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.
Willena was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 31 years, Preston Athans; and sister, Virginia Morrow.
She is survived by her daughter, Christy Brinkley; son, Murray Athans and wife, Julie; sisters, Beryl Rives, Norma Moore, Joyce Brock, and Ruby Patrick and husband, Dick; brother, Carl Crook and wife, Billie; grandchildren, Phil, Warren, Rachel, Sara, and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Bailey, John and Mallory; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special thanks to Community Hospice and Senior Support for all the TLC given Mom during the last three years; with the deepest of gratitude to her loving caregivers, Beverly, Dawn, Michelle, Rheba, Debbie, Linda and others.
