Funeral services for Barbara Anita Tuenge, 82, of Glen Rose, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the Cleburne First Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Harly Charles officiating.
Burial will follow in Squaw Creek Cemetery in Somervell County.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Barbara was born on July 3, 1940 in Bowie, Texas. She was raised with two sisters and three brothers.
At age 16, she met Leon Tuenge and wed on June 22, 1956. They settled in rural Burleson, Texas, where they raised their children. Barbara and Leon celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in 2022.
Barbara was a kind and loving soul. She treated everyone with fairness and equity. She was born to be a mother and grandmother. Barbara had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. She loved her family and home which was a gathering place for family holidays and celebrations. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. She was the glue that held us all together. Every gathering was centered around a meal and a good card game. Barbara was a very creative person who enjoyed crafts, gardening, embroidering and she was a talented seamstress. Her sewing talents produced Barbie clothes, stylish outfits in the 70's, and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Every spring she planted petunias and red geraniums, her favorite flower.
Later in life she was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she enjoyed fellowship and worship. She enjoyed Bible studies where she strengthened her relationship with Christ.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Tuenge; and siblings, Billy Tarpley, Loretta Stokes, Diane McDaniel, and Dean Tarpley.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Tuenge; sons, Mick and Rockey Tuenge; daughter, Cathy Culp; brother, Tommy Tarpley; grandchildren, Chelsey Culp, John Culp and wife, Katie, Holly Meyer and husband, Travis, and Jessica Woodard and husband, Chris; great grandchildren, Rayne and Ty Meyer and Chloe Woodard; and other family members and friends.
