Billie Maxine Barr (Wakeland)
Billie Maxine Wakeland Barr, 89, of Whitney, Texas, passed away quietly with her children near on November 16, 2016 in Houston, Texas.
Visitation and graveside service will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne, Texas at 11a.m. November 26, 2016 with Dr. David denHartog of Cleburne Bible Church officiating.
Maxine was born in Cleburne to Grace and Osce Wakeland on October 16, 1927. She went to Tandy Elementary, Polytechnic High School, and North Texas Agricultural College in Ft. Worth, later continuing her education at Virginia Intermont in Bristol, Virginia.
Maxine was a homemaker and after raising her children, she enjoyed fishing, flowers, birdwatching, reading, rooting for her home sport teams, chatting with friends, spending time with her family, and cuddling her pets.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Osce and Grace; sister, Mary Ann Martin; brother, James Wakeland; daughter, Sandy Lynn Young; granddaughter, Abigail Grace Young; and loving husband, Paul Barr.
She is survived by her sister, Jenny Bob Sewell of Crowley, Texas; son, Steven Douglas (Karen) Young of Houston; daughter, Elaine Young Bellan of Fairfax, Virginia; two grandchildren, Jason Eric (Kimberly) Bellan of Fairfax and Suzanne Bellan (David) Koch of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; four great-grandchildren, Evelyn Mae and Madeleine Grace Bellan, and Michael Anthony and Jackson Steven Koch; three nieces, Barbara Hays, Shirley (Clark) Butts and Becky Gardner, one nephew Jim (Tammy) Martin; and the father of her children, J. Frank Young.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Linda Leavelle for her dedication, support and love to Maxine over the years as a neighbor, friend and encourager.
