J. Barton

Funeral services for J. W. Barton, 83, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Bethel Temple Church with the Rev. Mike Mizell officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Flat Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be John D. Reeves, Ronnie D. West, Derek Reeves, Matthew Barton, Roger Roye and Jeff Willeford.
Mr. Barton passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at his home. He was born in Valley Mills, Texas on March 1, 1930, the son of William Cloud and Zavala Belle (Swift) Barton.
J. W. married Charlene Matthews on Sept. 12, 1952 in Cleburne. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and later served as a Cleburne police officer for several years.
J. W. was a master ceramic tile setter and was known throughout the state for his work.
He was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God Church for over 60 years. He served as deacon, elder, teacher and was instrumental in the building of the new sanctuary.
J. W. was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Charlene Barton, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his son, W. C. “Billy” Barton and wife, Janice, of Sand Flat; daughters, Raylene West and husband, Ronnie, of Cleburne, Brenda Reeves and husband, John, of Cleburne, and Kay Macik and husband, Joe, of Caldwell, Texas; brothers, Bob and Sid Barton; sister, Linda Harris; grandchildren, Ronnie D. West, Krissy Worlow, Judy West, John D. Reeves, Derek Reeves, Tesa Roye, Shelly Willeford, Matthew Barton, Rylee Barton, Mary Muras, Kyndel Macik, and Kalene Macik; 19 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Lorene Hutson.
