James Paul Beatty
James Paul Beatty, 78, of Cleburne, Texas passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at Baylor All Saints in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Father Chris Woodall officiating. Special remembrances will be given by Ben Oefinger and Carolyn Myres. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Rosser.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Harmon, Greg Harmon, Lonnie Borden, John Cook, Lt. Col. Phillip Baker, Jeff Baker, Steven Coggin, and Ronnie Galbreath. Honorary pallbearers are Ronald J. Baker and Joby Young.
Paul was born in Cleburne, Texas on March 24, 1940 to Elizabeth (Steadman) and Robert Beatty.
After graduating from Cleburne High School in 1958, he earned a B.S. of History from U. T. Arlington, Texas; later earning a M. S. of History from UNT in Denton, Texas.
Paul began his career in education at Cleburne’s Fulton Jr. High in 1967. He then moved to Cleburne High School and taught history, government and economics. Paul served as Senior Dean before becoming a Vice Principal. After his tenure as a teacher and administrator, Paul completed his career in a pilot program serving At Risk students of CISD. He retired in 1994 after a very successful career serving all students of CISD as well as the Johnson County Community. Paul married Jacqulyn “Jackie” Moore in July 19, 1991 in Oklahoma. He was a member of The Church of the Holy Comforter in Cleburne.
Paul was loved by everyone whose lives he touched. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who are a testament to his inspiration and recognize his as a life well done.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Beatty; son, Robert Paul Beatty; daughter, Brandi Harrell; and grandson, John Eric Beatty.
Paul is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jackie Beatty, also an educator in CISD for 24 years; daughter, Lisa Posey and husband, Bill, of Sevierville, Tennessee; son, John Beatty of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Ian Sadler of Cleburne, Taylor Posey of Sevierville, Libbie Beatty of Joshua, Texas, and Josh Beatty of Glen Rose, Texas; and many other family members and friends.
