Bentley "Bubba" Jones, 74, of Waco passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022. A visitation will be held Friday November 4 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Parlor at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, 1300 Columbus Ave., Waco, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at the Rosser Funeral Home, 1664 W. Henderson St., Cleburne, Texas on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM.
Bentley was born on April 17, 1948 in Waco, Texas to Bentley Moses and Dorothy Dagley Jones. He grew up in Port Arthur, Texas where his dad coached football at Thomas Jefferson High School. After playing a few years of college football in New Mexico and Colorado, he returned to Waco where he received his bachelors' degree from Baylor University. In 1972 he married Carolyn Redding in Dallas, Texas. They had three sons.
He was a Texas High School football coach and devoted educator for his entire career. Bentley coached High School football for five years in several Texas schools before he helped to open Cypress Creek High School in Houston where he coached football for 30 years.
Bentley's passions were golf, fishing and BU sports. He was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sherry Lou.
Bentley is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Matt Jones of Prosper, Tye Jones and wife Dee of Houston, and Kyle Jones of Austin; his sisters, Jackie and husband, David Jones of Waco as well as Cindy and husband, Ray Rucksdashel, also of Waco; grandchildren, Reese and Tate Jones of Prosper and Hannah Jones of Houston; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
