Funeral services for Bessie Marie Simmons Yates, 96, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Granbury Street Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Rio Vista Cemetery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8:00 P.M., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Bessie Marie Simmons Yates, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great- great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1928, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Bessie was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. She was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. Bessie had a deep love for her family and dedicated her life to their happiness and well-being.
As a devoted mother, Bessie's nurturing nature and guidance shaped the lives of her children, instilling in them values of compassion, resilience, and the importance of family bonds. She was a source of unwavering support and encouragement, always there to lend a listening ear or offer a comforting embrace.
Bessie's legacy extends beyond her immediate family. She cherished her role as a grandmother great grandmother and great- great grandmother, delighting in the laughter and joy of her grandchildren. Her warm presence and wise words will forever be treasured by those whose lives she touched.
In addition to her dedication to family, Bessie was an active member of her community and a faithful member of Granbury Church of Christ. She found solace and strength in her faith, and her commitment to serving others was an inspiration to all.
Bessie leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the memories we shared with her.
Bessie Marie Simmons Yates, lovingly known as Bess, entered marriage with Robert (Buddy) Simmons on January 3rd, 1948, and together they shared 47 beautiful years. Their union blessed them with three children, Pat Simmons, Candace (Candy) Marie Mathis, and Robert Mark Simmons.
Throughout her life, Bess was a dedicated and hardworking individual. She found fulfillment in various occupations both within and outside of the home. Her career journey encompassed roles such as a butcher at the Ferris meat market, as the owner and operator of a dry cleaners, a salesclerk at Walls and bridal in Cleburne, Texas, and ultimately culminated with her employment at the Cleburne hospital in central supply.
Bessie's greatest joy in life came from her role as a grandmother. She was blessed with seven grandchildren who brought immense happiness to her heart. Their names are Penny Sue McCoy (Robert), Shannon Daniels (Kenneth), Patrick Simmons, Kimberly Russel (Ricky), Shawna Gephart (Elbert), Aaron Simmons, and Schane Simmons (Mindy). Additionally, Bessie had the privilege of being a great-grandmother to sixteen precious souls, and her legacy extended even further with sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
Bess will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, genuine kindness, and the impact she made on the lives of those around her. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, who will hold onto the countless moments and memories shared with her.
As we mourn the loss of Bessie Marie Simmons Yates, we also celebrate the vibrant life she lived and the profound love she shared with her family. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Bess will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will live on through the love she shared and the lives she touched.
She is proceeded in death by, Robert P Simmons "Buddy" (husband), Woodard Yates (husband), Benny Mathis (son-in-law), and Penny Sue McCoy.
