Beverley Conley

Beverley Jean Conley, 86, of Cleburne, Texas passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in Alvarado, Texas. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Beverley Jean (DeMerritt) Conley was born August 13, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa to William Leslie DeMerritt Sr. and Ida Anita Alice Ax. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Belmond HS in 1956 at 17 years old. She was the oldest of four children and their caretaker after her mother's death 3 months prior to graduating. She worked at Look magazine, in the editing department, now Life magazine. She met her husband Alvis Conley on December 24, 1962 at a church event and they were married 6 weeks later, on February 9, 1963. They were married 56 years before his death in 2019.

She worked for the Cleburne ISD for the special needs children as a teacher's aide. Mom's gentle kind soul was greatly needed and appreciated until she retired 20 years later. She was loved and adored by the children, their parent's and the teachers. She also worked in the church nursery for a long period of time. She was a wonderful mom and loving wife and a fantastic grandmother and a blessing to anyone who knew her. She was always there when we needed her. She was our rock and the glue that held us all together even in difficult times. She loved her children with unfailing love and taught us by her example how to live a good Christian life.

She is survived by her 5 children, Steven Conley and wife Lorrae, John Conley and wife Susan, Melanie and husband Mark Golubinski, Sondria and husband Danny Robinson, Cynthia and husband Brian Baxter, 21 grandchildren are; Mitch, Erica, Barrett, Jared, Brandon, Josh, Joe, Jordan, Jessica, Gloryanna, Rebekah, Joseph, Mercy, Cheyanna, Cornelius, Elisheva, Audria, Shaphan, Jeremiah, Patience, Clarissa and 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She has two brothers; Bill DeMerritt and wife Carole, Roger DeMerritt and wife Katherine and one sister Marcille Setzer. She was proceeded in death by her husband Alvis Conley, and her mom and dad.
