Ms. Billie Ray Burgess, 85, of Cleburne, Texas passed away peacefully on September 24, 2022 due to a brain injury from a recent fall. She was born May 19, 1937, in Cleburne, Texas, the daughter of James Guy Smith and Dorothy May Woolsey Smith. She married John Virgil Burgess June 18, 1954, in Johnson County and celebrated 35 years of marriage.
Ms. Burgess was a member of the North Cleburne Baptist Church, served many hours with the Campfire Girls of America, and was a great daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to many. Ms. Burgess' contagious smile and warm greetings will be missed but will forever live in our hearts.
Survivors include: one daughter, Melinda Rose and husband, Larry Rose; one son, Sonny Burgess and wife, Jolie Burgess; one sister, Nelda Lawson; grandchildren, Justin Rose and wife, Desiree, Jonathan Rose and wife, Ashley, Rachel Gepfert and husband, Joe, Robin Hundley and husband, Corey, and Sonny Barton Burgess; and nine great grandchildren.
Ms. Burgess was preceded in death by husband, John V. Burgess on December 12, 1989, and daughter Rebecca Ann Burgess on Aug 21, 1957.
Visitation for Ms. Burgess will be Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 6pm to 8pm at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022, 10am at Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne.
Because of Ms. Burgess' love for music and children, in lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Clinical Performing Arts Department at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas at promise.cookchildrens.org/inmemory Direct credit card donations may be made with Carol at 682-885-4105 or if mailing a check make sure they reference in memory of Billie Burgess in a note or on the memo line of the check.
