Obituary for Gary Brand

Carrollton – Funeral services for Gary Brand 66, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Tom Brand officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Brand, Charles Clifton, Max Fowler, Hal Hollingsworth, Bob Monk, and David Warren. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Brand.
Gary passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 in Plano, Texas. He was born in Cleburne, Texas on Aug. 23, 1946, the son of Lola Nell (Ballard) and Clint Vernon Brand. Gary graduated from Cleburne High School in 1964 and was a member of 4H in Bono. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1974 with a BBA and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Gary was a real estate broker and salesman from 1976 to 1988. He worked as a computer programmer for Texas Instruments, Electronic Data Systems, and was working for the Dallas Morning News at the time of his death. Gary was a member of Preston Wood Baptist Church in Plano where he served has a greeter. He was a gifted piano player an enjoyed playing the popular tunes of his day, especially “Last Date”, “Boogie Woogie” and “The Entertainer”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clint Wesley Brand, and sister, Nell Baskett.
Gary is survived by his sons, Troy and Jeff Brand of Carrollton; sisters, Brenda Sendgraff of Cleburne, and Becky Babian of Arlington; former wife, Sherry McIver Brand of Carrollton; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
