Funeral services for William Fred Bursey, 69, of Haslet Texas will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Cleburne, Texas. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Bursey, Dan Nance, Floyd Ormsby, Lonnie Mears, Robert Massey, Kim Jones, Fred Vandergriff, Ryan Fussell, Billy Wofford and Joey Hurst. Honorary pallbearer will be Harper H. Creigh aka “Judge Roy Bean”.
Fred Bursey passed peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2019. He was born on July 25, 1949 to William Fred Bursey, Sr. and Geraldine Alexander Bursey.
Fred attended Keller High School and received his BS from Texas Tech University.
He was Vice President of Morrison Milling Corporation, Flour Millers, facilitating the grain and commodities division.
Fred was past president of the Texas Grain and Feed Association.
Fred was a member in good standing of the Cleburne Masonic Lodge #315 for 47 years.
He was a distinguished National Bullseye pistol shooter with his Colt 1911. S.A.S.S. World, National and State Champion of Cowboy Action Shooting. Rifle and Pistol Silhouette champion. National & Texas State Sporting Clays Champion in addition to Sportsman Team Challenge.
Fred was a lifelong rancher, producing and breeding registered Hereford cattle on the family ranches in Keller and Cleburne, Texas. Later in life, he and son, Travis ventured out into Holstein Replacement cattle for nearby dairy markets.
He was a beloved husband, father, and friend.
Fred is survived by his wife Cindy, son Travis, and brother, Gregory Bursey and family.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
