A celebration of Life service for Carl Dwayne Blair of Cleburne, Texas will be held from 3-4:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 111 Meadowview Drive, Cleburne, Texas with a reception and fellowship to follow at 919 Highland Drive in Cleburne.
Carl Dwayne Blair went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 12:15 pm. Dwayne was born August 17, 1935 in Sweetwater, Texas to his parents, William Clarence and Annie Pearl Blair. He grew up riding horses and hanging out at his parents' ranch in Maryneal, Texas. He shared stories of having a blast with his brothers Clarence Wayne, Irwin, and Charles causing mischief and living the best country life. He and his brothers worked hard but found time to bond with each other and did not stray out of communication. He graduated from Highland High School continued his education. While Dwayne attending college in Abilene, Texas at McMurray University, he met the love of his life, Dollie Mae Hagans. They married in 1962 and together raised three children, Robert William Davenport, Jana Bea Blair, and Carl Gregory Blair. They began life in Maryneal and eventually ended up in El Paso, Texas. Dwayne impacted the community in Horizon City by coaching city league boys baseball, participating in Clint School sporting, band, and academic events. Dwayne was very active in youth sports in the community and loved this so much that he became a founding member of Horizon City Youth Sports Association. He was not a stranger at school events! He was honored with a recommendation to be on the Clint School Board in 1979, was appointed, and served for 13 years. To say that he loved this aspect of his life is an understatement! He even went on to earn a spot on the Far West Texas School Board Association and was later honored with the Excellence in Leadership and Service Award in 1984-85 school year. Both he and Dollie retired and moved to Cleburne, Texas and continued their passion to support the youth within Cleburne ISD athletics. Not surprisingly, they made many lifelong friends in their new community.
Dwayne's last years were filled with many joys: interacting in the lives of his children and grandchildren; caring for his wife; bonding with his brothers, and developing an unexpected friendship with his nephew, Wayne Blair, who later became his best buddy! Dwayne lived a fulfilled life serving his community and spending time with family.
Dwayne passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and loved ones on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
