Jessie Standley Case
Arlington—Graveside services for former Cleburne resident, Jessie Standley Case, 94, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Rosehill Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Morris officiating.
There will be no visitation or viewing.
Jessie went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in Arlington, Texas. She was born in Moscow, Texas on September 25, 1916 to James Earl and Verna (Jones) Standley.
Jessie graduated from CHS in 1938. She graduated from Texas State Teachers College (TWU) in 1940 with a BBS in education. While teaching in McAllen, she met her handsome soldier, Jack Stanford Case, and they were wed on March 21, 1942. Her teaching career included Wichita Falls, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, Pharr, McAllen and Cleburne. She retired from Coleman Elementary after 28 years of teaching service.
Everyone that knew her knew Jessie loved her family, former students and friends.
She was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington. Jessie loved to cook for her family, an art she learned from her mother; was an avid backyard birder and flower gardener; and a lover of all animals, especially cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Jack Case; brothers, William, Jim and Jack Standley; and granddaughter, Carey Ann.
Jessie Case is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Case of Arlington; son, Paul Standley Case of Houston; granddaughter, Hallie Elizabeth; great granddaughters, London Elizabeth and Layne Maddison; sister, Elizabeth Hall; sister-in-law, Jean Standley; and many other family and friends. She is also survived by a granddaughter of her heart, Maria Longhi.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Yong Chang and the staff of Arbrook Plaza and American Hospice.
