Charles Ray Hodge, beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 19, 2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 10, 1939, in Cleburne, Texas, Charles was known for his humor, generosity, contagious kindness, and unwavering support of the underdogs in life. He had a long career as a locomotive engineer at Burlington Northern Railroad. After retirement, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and opened his own business, H&H Auto Sales.
Outside of his career, Charles had a strong faith in God, and a deep passion for “gaming” his entire life. He was an expert poker player and skilled horse racing handicapper. He enjoyed the thrill of a good hand at the poker table and the excitement of picking the winning horses.
Charles was preceded in death by his dear wife, Anna Mae Eastman Hodge, who passed away in 2017, as well as his loving parents, T.W. and Annie Hodge, brother, Jimmy Hodge, and sister, Julia Hodge. He is survived by his oldest son, Ben Hodge, wife, Kristi Lewis Hodge; his youngest son, Jon Hodge, husband, Jim DiMarino; granddaughter, Kortney West; brothers, Guy Hodge and Bill Hodge, and sister, Suzanne Shipley Phillips; and dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other family members, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He will be remembered as a mischievous charmer with a fun-loving outlook that created countless happy memories with family and friends. Chuck was legendary!
Family visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM on Friday, September 27, at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, TX. Immediately afterwards at 12 pm, a luncheon for family and friends to celebrate Chuck's life will be held at Chisholm Trail Rustic Venue.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Dallas SPCA of Texas, and/or the Harris-Walz Presidential campaign ;-) in Charles's name, continuing his legacy of generosity and passion for life.
