Charles Mowery

A private celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 9th, at 2 pm at the Prayer Garden and Chapel of the Presbyterian Children's Home in Itasca, Texas. 

Charles Andrew Mowery, 76, of Cleburne, was born on October 11, 1947, in Niagara Falls, New York; to Agnes Watt Mowery and Charles Earl Mowery. He passed away on February 27, 2024, in his home after a long fight with pancreatic cancer. 

He graduated from Niagra Wheatfield Highschool, Vernon College, and Wayland Baptist University. He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was larger than life, a giant not just in height. He could light up a room and leave you laughing for days. He loved the saltwater air, Copano Bay, every dog he ever met, to laugh, poke fun, a cold Lonestar or Yuengling with his grandsons, cheering on his great grandchildren, and complaining about the lousiness of restaurants. He was the proud husband to Shirley for, in his words, "not long enough." He was an engineer, friend, brother, uncle, Chuckie, Grandpa, and his proudest of titles given by his 16 
great-grandchildren-Papa. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Samuel Mowery, and numerous dogs waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Cleburne, and their beloved fur babies Lyla and Bella; Son Keith Mowery and wife, Susan, of Whitney; daughter DeEdra Clinkscales and husband, Steve, of Itasca; Son Robert Mowery of Cleburne. Grandchildren Drew Clinkscales and wife, Marta, of Tolar; Nathan Clinkscales and wife, Jordan, of Rio Vista; Charles Clinkscales and wife, Crystal, of Cleburne; Seth Mowery and wife, Cynthia, of Whitney; Kayla Mowery and Husband Justin Barrabas, Bruceville; Kristin Mowery of Missouri. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you pet a dog, tell a joke, and let your local Pizza Hut know they messed up your order again.
