Alvarado—Funeral services for Laurence Elmer Clowdus, 73, of Alvarado, Texas will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Saint Anthony Anglican Church in Alvarado with the Rev. Robert O. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 Friday at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Clowdus, Scott Jackson, Kirk Jackson, Ron Bogue, Jerry LaFerney, and Seth Blair.
With confidence, Laurence Elmer Clowdus entered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in Houston, Texas from complications of Leukemia. His wife and five children were by his side.
Laurence was born on August 25, 1938 to Raymond Odell Clowdus and Mildred Hopkins Clowdus on Dear Creek in Burleson, Texas.
In 1944, Raymond and Mildred moved the family to Alvarado, Texas where Laurence later graduated high school in 1957. At the age of around ten years old he was baptized into Christ. He married the love of his life, Betty Williams of Fort Worth, in 1970. He was a third generation dairyman, working all of his life.
Known as loving, giving, and unselfish to all, Laurence spent a lifetime providing for others. Softhearted and sensitive, he showed compassion to all around him and was most dedicated to being the servant leader of his family. He will remain in our hearts forever.
Laurence was preceded in death by his father, Raymond.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred; wife of 60 plus years, Betty; children, Tracey Melissa Hutson and husband, Jason, of Alvarado, Carole Ann Ceraudo and husband, Frank, of Houston, Eric Laurence Clowdus and wife, Michelle, of Farmington, Missouri, Amanda Elizabeth LaFerney and husband, Jerry, of Rockport, and Zachary Hunter Clowdus and wife, Kelsi of Evant; ten grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Ashbrook of Alvarado and Virginia Buckingham of Burleson.
