A memorial service for Jimmy Lee Coonrod, 61, of Grandview, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Walter Sanders officiating. A lunch and visitation will follow at the Grandview Community Center.
Jimmy passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at his home where his was lovingly cared for by family and Mission Hospice. He was born in Grand Prairie, Texas on January 7, 1956, the son of Georgia and James Coonrod.
Jimmy was a graduate of Sam Houston High School in Arlington and later attended UTA in Arlington pursuing a business degree. He married Marilyn Sue Simpson in 1976.
Jimmy served his country in the United States Army for three years and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was a plumber by trade and self-employed, specializing in gas pipe. Jimmy enjoyed all kinds of sports. Recently his first choice was to golf or fish with his sons and brother. He loved spending time with his wife going to the Humming Bird and Sand Festivals at the coast. Jimmy’s very favorite thing to do, by far, was spending time with his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Coonrod; and brother, Doyle Coonrod.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Coonrod of Grandview; mother, Georgia Coonrod of Whitney; sons, Chad Coonrod and wife, Nicole of Burleson, Blaze Coonrod and wife, Vanessa of Port Aransas, and Spencer Coonrod of Grandview; grandchildren, Torren and Zade Coonrod; brother, Bobby Coonrod, of Whitney; sister, Janie Ball and husband, Tom, of Whitney; and several nieces and nephews.
