Service for Roy Alvin Cooper, 83, of Cleburne will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2019 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Damon Emery will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, at the funeral home.
Roy Alvin Cooper passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 in Fort Worth. He was born March 29, 1935 in Madill, Oklahoma to James Lonnie Cooper and Lora (McClure) Cooper. He married Sharon Bailey on August 16, 1954 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Mr. Cooper served in the United States Air Force, retiring with 20 years of service. He also worked at Wilbanks Oil Company, as well as numerous other positions. Roy was a hard-working man who worked from the age of 12, finally retiring (unwillingly) at the age of 80. His greatest loves were his family, singing and songwriting, playing the guitar, and watching old westerns. Roy also attended the Cowboy Church in Lipan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Cooper; grandson, Jesse Pipkin; brothers, Earl Cooper and Jerry Cooper; brother-in-law, James Whaley; and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Lottie Cooper.
Roy is survived by his son, Alan Cooper and wife Lisa of Boynton Beach, Florida; daughters, Cindy Pearson and husband Joe of Wichita Falls, Pam Elliott and husband Earl of North Richland Hills, Cherie Greanead and husband Ran, and Theresa Ward and husband Doug, all of Cleburne; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers, James Cooper of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Gordon Cooper and wife Virginia of Cleveland, Ohio; and a sister, June Whaley of Elm Mott.
