Cindy Calder passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023, in Cleburne, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dallas, Texas on October 8, 1950, the daughter of Amanda (Edmonds) and Horace (Doc) Childers. She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Childers Calder. She is survived by her husband, Richard Calder, of Cleburne, her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sarah Calder, of Austin; her daughter Melinda Calder, of Dallas; her granddaughter Vivienne Marie Calder, and her sister Carol Childers Crawford.
Cindy graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas. She was a proud Baylor Bear, who graduated from the University with a degree in Business Education. She worked as a teacher and spent countless hours as a volunteer for her church and her children’s schools. She was a long-time member of the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons, participating in the local In His Name Chapter. This chapter recently honored Cindy with the designation of Lifetime Member in recognition of her more than 30 years of service to the community.
Fiercely devoted to her family, Cindy was a skilled seamstress and needlework artist, who excelled at creating family heirlooms with her quilting, embroidery, needlepoint and smocking. She was an excellent cook, attentive mother and wife to her family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but glad she will be reunited with loved ones that have gone before her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Warm Place, 809 Lipscomb Street, Fort Worth, TX 76104.
