A memorial service celebrating the life of David Earl Hamm, 75, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 1pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne, Texas with Brother Steve Mullen officiating. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Sept 14, 2024 from 5-7pm at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas.
David passed away in his home in Cleburne on Sept 8, 2024. He was born on May 20, 1949, in Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rachael Hamm, his brothers Bruce Strickland and Gerry Hamm, and his wife of almost 50 years, Latrese McVicker Hamm. They married on June 14, 1969, in Cleburne, Texas, and later they graduated in 1971 from Tarleton State University.
After college, David taught auto shop at Carter Riverside HS, then Cleburne HS before pursuing his dream of being a rancher. Together David & Latrese purchased their dream home on a ranch west of Cleburne in 1976 where they built a blessed life. David ranched for almost 50 years from this location. Hamm Ranch was recognized as the two-time Johnson County Farm and Ranch Family of the Year. David also earned Conservation Rancher of the Year for Johnson County.
An avid supporter of Johnson County agriculture and non-profits, David was a proud supporter of Cleburne FFA where he sponsored kids in pursuing their agricultural projects. David supported the Bono Volunteer Fire Department for over three decades. He was a bronze sponsor of the Johnson County Bread Connection. He served as a deacon at New Hope Baptist Church since 2008. He also served on the Rio Vista ISD Board of Trustees for 2 terms and on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
He is survived by his son, Trent Hamm, and wife, Allyson, of Cleburne; daughter, Monica Latrese Hamm Miller and husband, Col Zebadiah Miller, of Liberty Hill, Texas; and grandchildren Zadie Hamm, Amelia Miller, Lydia Miller, and Harrison Miller. He is also survived by numerous friends whom he considered family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Bono Volunteer Fire Department, which is exactly what David would have wanted, giving back to fellow ranchers and taking care of Johnson County.
