David Lynn Wilson was born on January 31, 1950 in Cleburne, Texas to Maggie Irene Wilson and O.D. Wilson. David was called home to heaven on May 5, 2022 at the age of 72. David Lynn was blessed with an amazing natural born gift from God for playing the piano. His musical gift was evident at a very early age; winning several local and area wide talent shows, playing the opening act for Bob Wills at Panther Hall in Fort Worth, Texas and most of all playing for the Lord which was his favorite. David was also talented and interested in many activities such as song writing, playing almost any musical instrument that he picked up, Karate, racing boats and cars, flying airplanes, riding motorcycles...pretty much anything that went fast, David was behind the wheel. One of his most favorite activities was traveling to all sorts of destinations with his wife and family.
David was self-employed for the most part of his life but started at a young age as a Fireman for the Cleburne Fire Department. He then moved on to become a Senior Lineman for Texas Power & Light, contractor of several homes, heavy equipment excavator, worked in the Barnett Shale for Chesapeake, built the company Wilson Organics, restaurant owner, acquired numerous patents and had success for almost anything he set his mind to.
David’s greatest gift was his love for people and his passion for discussing God’s word with others. He taught at many local churches and combined his talent of playing the piano with his love of talking about Jesus. He had an absolute unconditional love for his wife, children, and family and never met a stranger. David exhibited generosity and compassion for others throughout his life. He would minister to others that were grieving at the cemetery and assure them that they would see their loved one again if they truly put all of their faith in Jesus Christ. His daily mission was to speak to someone about Jesus and God always put him in the right place at the right time. David would help anyone that was in need and this is one of his greatest legacies that would leave an imprint on many hearts, especially those that knew him.
David’s forever best friend and partner in life was his beloved wife Patricia Kay Wilson. They would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on July 11, 2022. David was known by many names such as loving husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his son, Justin Bradley Wilson on June 4, 2017.
David is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Kay Wilson of Cleburne; daughter, Brandy Lynn Wilson-Cary of Cleburne; grandchildren, Preston Bradley Wilson and wife Gwendolyn Wilson of Austin; Bryan Maxwell Cary of Cleburne; Alexandra Lynn Cary of Cleburne; Dalton Jack Wilson of Rio Vista; brother Cecil Neil Wilson of Cleburne, Tracy Wilson of Cleburne; sister Sandra Elaine King of Cleburne; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of many friends that will miss David dearly. The family is certain that David is giving his greatest performance yet of How Great Thou Art before God Almighty himself! David was finally able to come face to face with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to be reunited with his son Justin. For us that still remain in our temporary residence while here on earth we say...”It is Never goodbye but rather till we meet again”! Amen!
