Alvarado, TX—Funeral services for Velma M. De Gano, 87, of Alvarado, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cleburne, Texas with Bishop Mario Rendon officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Mrs. De Gano passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born in Amity, Ohio on July 29, 1924, the daughter of Nettie M. (Sparks) and George B. Shafer.
Mrs. De Gano was retired from Los Angeles County, California where she was a welfare fraud investigator. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mrs. DeGano was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank J. De Gano; son, Gary De Gano; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her sons, Jack Wilson and wife, Betty, of Alvarado, Tom Boggs of California, Brent De Gano and Scott De Gano, both of Hawaii; daughters, Kahala Kohl and huband, Kent Lee, of Gilbert, Arizona, Sandra Gillette of Washington, and Jean Peacher of California; brothers, Richard Shafer and wife, Jean, of Phoenix, Arizona and Robert Shafer and wife, Mary Ellen, of King Fisher, Oklahoma; sisters, Rose Ewing and husband, Tom, of San Jose, California, Ida Payne of Georgia, Doris Ecker and husband, Joe, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mary Small of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 25 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
