Graveside services for Norman Dale Donoho, 85, of Rio Vista, Texas will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 13, 2020 at Rio Vista Cemetery. Mr. Kaye Scott will officiate.
Norman Dale Donoho passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 in Rio Vista. He was born January 6, 1935 in Waxahachie, TX to Avanell (Odom) and Channie Donoho. He was raised in the cotton patches in Hill and Johnson counties, where he once picked 500 lbs. of cotton in one day.
Mr. Donoho worked as a radio personality in Hillsboro in 1955 and then worked as an ad manager for the Fort Worth Press newspaper. He went into law enforcement and was a Deputy Sheriff in Hillsboro, a court administrator in Fort Worth, and finally a Chief Marshall in Fort Worth from 1970 - 1990, when he retired.
Mr. Donoho enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an expert pistol shot. He was selfless and quick to come to the aid of others, taking care of his mother until her death. Norman was very decisive with a low tolerance for nonsense. He was also an accomplished public speaker and was of the Christian faith. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eva Lou Vanderslice.
Survivors include his son, Randy Dale Donoho of Fort Worth; daughter, Cynthia Gossett of Rio Vista; grandchildren, Brandi Noel Donoho and James Brandon Gossett, both of Rio Vista; brother, Preston Donoho and wife Billye of Melvin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
