Obituary for
Charles L. Dooley
A memorial service celebrating the life of Charles L. Dooley, 74, of Rio Vista, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista. Pastor Don Goetes will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers are the Auctioneers and Ringmen of Metro Auto Auction.
On August 8, 2016, Charles L. Dooley passed away.
This larger than life character was born in Harlingen, Texas on September 24, 1941 to O. L. and Ila Ruth (Nelson) Dooley.
Charles attended Tarleton and West Texas State College, where he majored in animal science.
During his time at West Texas State, he was part of the Livestock Judging Team that won the judging competition at the Houston Livestock Show in 1962.
He attended auctioneer school and was an auctioneer throughout his life.
Charles worked for the Horned Herford and Polled Herford Associations as a field representative and for the Texas Longhorn Association.
He was an entrepreneur and he loved the cattle business, the land, hunting and his home state of Texas.
He is survived by sons, Charles “Doug” Dooley and wife, Lora, of Cleburne, Texas and Dan Dooley and wife, Christie, of Cresson, Texas; daughters, Dana Hortman and husband, Raymond, of Griffin, Georgia, Donna Hudson and husband, Kent, of Granbury, Texas and Debra Blomquist of Salina, Kansas; grandchildren, Deanna Camilo and husband, Nelson, of Decatur, Georgia, Tiffani Carter and husband, Stephen, of Jonesboro, Georgia, Shane Drew, Will and Ryan Hudson, all of Granbury, Bridgette Crosson and husband, Tyler, of Minneapolis, Kansas, Zach Blomquist of New York City, New York, Lane Blomquist of Salina, Kansas, Mason Dooley and Mackenna Dooley of Cleburne; and great grandchildren, Charleigh Grace, Paisley, Kinsley and Colton.
