Funeral services for Ruben Duarte Jr., 81, of Keene, Texas will be conducted at 11:30 A.M., Friday, July 24, 2020 at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne. Pastor Carlos Craig will officiate. The service will be restricted to family only due to Covid-19, but will be live streamed on Facebook.
Interment will follow the funeral service at the Keene cemetery. Pastor Carlos Valencia will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ruben Duarte III, Chris Davis, Andrew Davis, Christopher Davis, Manny Duarte, and Mike Torres. Honorary pallbearers will be Fernando Hill, Ruben Duarte IV, Alfredo Portales, and Luis Gonzalez.
Ruben Duarte Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020. He and his twin brother, Oscar, were born on May 30, 1939 in El Paso, Texas to Ruben and Elisa Duarte. He was the oldest brother to Ysela, Yolanda, and Manuel.
He graduated from El Paso High School. He helped his father in the bakery business for a few years. He served in the United States Army for 3 years and was stationed in Germany for most his service. Prior to going overseas, he met Helen Delgado who he married 2 years upon his return. He graduated from the North Texas State University with a degree in Psychology. He was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist church while still in Germany.
He loved Jesus deeply and had a great passion for ministry. He served many congregations within the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Duarte; his sister, Ysela Torres and her husband, Mike Torres; his sister Yolanda Brittingham and her husband Randy Brittingham; his brother, Manuel Duarte; his son, Ruben Duarte III and his wife, Ana-Carla Duarte; his daughter Cynthia Davis and her husband, Chris Davis; his grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher & Lindsey Davis, and Giselle and Ruben Duarte IV; several nephews and nieces; and many friends who loved him.
