Services for Gary W. Ewart, 63, of Cleburne, Texas were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church Cleburne. Dr. Nolan Duck officiated. Burial followed in Rosehill Cemetery. The family received visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Gary passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on Nov. 22, 1949 in Houston, Texas to A.R. Ewart and Frances Fabian Ewart. Gary was raised in Houston, Texas and moved to Cleburne over 30 years ago. He was a quality control inspector at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose as well as at Qualico Steel before retiring. He was also a member of First Baptist Church. Gary enjoyed traveling and visited many National Parks over the years. His favorite was the Grand Canyon which he hiked many times and encouraged others to do the same. Gary was active in Save Old Cleburne and participated in the restoration of several houses in Cleburne over the last three decades. Over the years, three different houses he owned were featured on Cleburne’s annual Candlewalk Tour of Homes during the holidays.
He was preceded in death by his father, A.R. Ewart.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Ewart of Cleburne; son, John Ewart of Marlin; daughters, Mary Carruth and husband Walt of Spring, Stacy Fitzgerald of Houston; mother, Frances Ewart of Sugarland; sisters, Kathy Thompson of Sugarland, Linda Goodwin and husband Henry of College Station; and granddaughter Emily Grace Carruth of Spring.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at North Texas Chapter, 8111 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75251.
