Obituary for Robert Earl Fischer

Robert Earl Fischer
Robert Earl Fischer, son of William George “Buster” Fischer and Sarah May Jones, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015, following an extended debility.
Born on May 26, 1967, in King County, WA, his family moved frequently. At age five, he and his family moved to Anchor Point, AK, where he learned to garden and fish. Robert always spoke fondly of the times he and his brother would fish for Halibut and Salmon. Robert eventually moved to Dallas and then Cleburne, Texas. He worked for DISH, Direct TV, and Wendy’s.
On January 13, 2004, Robert suffered a serious head injury when his bicycle was hit by a truck at the intersection of West Henderson and Pendell Street. Robert subsequently resided at Colonial Manor Nursing Home and then Ridgeview Rehabilitation Center. His family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff for the excellent care they provided Robert over the past 11 years. They are also grateful to those who contributed to Robert’s “Wheel Chair” fund, especially the King’s Daughters and Cleburne’s Elk’s Lodge.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his paternal grandparents, Helen and Raymond Fischer; and maternal grandparents, Florence Elliott and Ora Jones.
He is survived by his longtime caregiver, Bill Conover; friend, Ken Miser, both of Cleburne, Texas; brother, William Fischer and and wife, Nicole, of Sulzbach, Germany; adopted family, Bonnie and James Collins of Rainbow, Texas and their children, Randa Guynes, Nici Halbert, Destiny Storey, and Madonna Kissell; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at St. Mark United Methodist Church with The Rev. Donna Ware officiating.
Contributions for Robert's memorial expenses can be sent to Cleburne's St. Mark UMC c/o Bill Conover (Memo: Fischer Memorial Expenses) or c/o Bill Conover at First Financial Bank, Cleburne (Memo: Fischer Memorial Expenses). All donations that exceed the costs of Robert's final expenses will be divided between the Cleburne Elk's Lodge and the St. Mark UMC "Snack Pack" program.
