Military graveside services for Francis Gilbert Fanning, 95, of Dallas, Texas will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2025 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
Francis Gilbert Fanning passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 in Dallas. He was born on October 12, 1929 in East Orange, New Jersey to Stanton Metcalfe and Olive Cornelia (Gilbert) Fanning.
Mr. Fanning joined the United States Air Force on August 16, 1948 and served his country until 1965, when a medical issue ended his career. He then worked at Donovan Galvani Dallas, where he managed the warehouse for the clothing designer and manufacturer. When they closed their doors, he went to work for J & S Air, Inc. as a design engineer until retiring.
He was a devout Catholic and spent his life studying and learning more about the tenets of his faith. He moved into St. Joseph's Residence in Dallas in 2015.
Survivors include his niece, Carol Fowler; nephews, Mark Fanning, Tim Fanning and wife Rachel Hudson, and Jordan Fanning and wife Angie, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was a kind and gentle soul who never spoke ill of anyone. He loved his family and his home at St. Joseph's.
