Violet Gabel (Hornbuckle)
Graveside service for Violet Gabel, 88, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at Green Acres Mausoleum. The Rev. F.L. Ashley and The Rev. Dewaun Ashley will officiate. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Gabel, Wesley Gabel, Marshall White, Paul Wilburn, Chris Colvin and Michael Southerland.
Violet passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2015 in Cleburne, Texas. She was born Sept. 19, 1926 in Guntersville, Alabama to Sallie Stiles and John Cleveland Hornbuckle. Violet worked as a cook for Joshua Independent School District and a volunteer for Operation Blessing for over 25 years. While a teenager Violet worked for the munitions plant in Huntsville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard F. Gabel; sons, Tommy Gabel, Fago Gabel, and infant son, William Gabel.
Violet is survived by her son, Franklin W. Gabel and wife, Rebecca, of Morgan; daughters, Bonnie Johnson and husband, Jimmy, of Cleburne, Lorene Wilburn of Fort Worth, Charlotte White and husband, Phillip, of Cleburne; brothers, George H. Hornbuckle and wife, Kay, of Ogden, Utah, J.C. Hornbuckle and wife, Mary, of Guntersville, Alabama; sisters, Mary Wishon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
