Funeral services for James Weldon “Jim” Gibson, 82, of Burleson, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Burleson Church of Christ with Mr. Karl Jones officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Gibson, Skyler Starling, Jeremiah Gibson, Joseph Gibson, Gabriel Gibson and Jubal Gibson.
James W. Gibson, Sr., age 83, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 in Burleson, Texas. He was born on August 1, 1937, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Jim married the love of his life, Linda Irene Chitwood, when Jim was 19 and Linda was 15. They married on September 5, 1957, after dating for only two weeks. Jim was proceeded in death by his wife, of 57 years, Linda Gibson and his son, Danny Gibson.
He is survived by his brother Don Gibson of Edmond, Oklahoma, his son, Jimmy Gibson and wife Lorie Gibson, daughter-in-law Hope Gibson, grandchildren, Zachary Gibson and Gabbie Tanner, Jenna Gibson and David Stewart, Jeremiah Gibson, Jamie and Skyler Starling, Joseph and Emily Gibson, Gabriel Gibson and Randi Saturley, Allyson Glass, and Jubal Gibson. Great grandchildren Nate Gibson, Symphony Stewart, Landon Tanner, Laynie Tanner, and Harper Gibson.
Jim graduated from Central High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Jim served in the Air Force from 1959-1961. He was a draftsman by trade. Jim loved reading murder mysteries, espionage and anything about World War II but he especially loved reading his Bible. He and his wife Linda made Jesus a priority in their home. He LOVED eating anything sweet. Jim loved taking his sons fishing. He enjoyed watching OU and Clemson football and Atlanta Brave baseball. Jim and Linda loved to take drives to beaches and up and down the southeast and California coast. Linda loved the beach, they would spend many weekends with their children and grandchildren at the beach while living in South Carolina. Jim was quick witted and always had plenty of bad dad jokes.
