A visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Tim Hagele was born to Elmer and Maurine Hagele on March
11, 1952. He was born something special. He was born a PK, a pastor’s kid.
Tim spent his early years traversing with his parents from church to church
and conference to conference. Some of those early places included time in the
Missouri Conference and the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference.
Tim attended Sunnydale Academy and it was here that he learned so many
of his life skills. He graduated with the class of 1971.
Tim then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, and began working for Jerome Lang
and his partners in Adventure Properties from the early 1970's through 1987. It
was during this time, that Tim distinguished himself as the driver of the bus that
Union College used. Almost every gymnastics trip, college band or choir tour,
Tim was the driver. From border to border and coast to coast, Tim had driven it
and spent a lot of time with students on the journey.
Tim continued his work of service, by working for the Arizona Conference
in the transportation department, moving pastors and also working at the camp and
later with the Texas Conference in their transportation department under the
guidance of Cecil May.
Tim’s later employment was working for the Beeson family and their
business. Often it was hauling equipment, setting up ice machines or repairing
them throughout the country.
Tim always had a passion for service, particularly that of 1st responders. He
always had a scanner from the earliest years. He knew what was going in the
community and often volunteered. He assisted the college with their security and
it was during those years that he installed flashing red lights behind the grille of
more than one Ford Thunderbird. Each car had plenty of visible antennas and
radios to match. Later this developed into working with a wrecker service in
Phoenix, and finally with working with the Keene Fire Department for many,
many years. Becoming known to all as “Tanker Tim!”
Tim was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He had
a passion for the youth and young adults of the church to know Christ. He was
always interested in helping students and young people to be their best and to find
genuine success in the their lives. On many occasions, Tim could be observed
helping people out of a jam, or fixing something, or simply listening and be
encouraging.
Tim was a positive person. He always was jovial and loved live the fullest.
One of his greatest passions was to put a boat in the water, and then have some
great fun. Many of his friends can testify to having spent some time on the water
with Tim and the boat. Tim always loved a good joke or story, and if you added
good food, even better! Even when diagnosed with cancer, he was positive and
took things in stride.
Recently, Tim was honored by the fire departments from Keene, Briaroaks,
Grandview, Cleburne, Sommervell and Joshua as well as Keene city leaders at a
recent banquet. He was remembered for his extraordinary community service with
the Tim Hagele Duty award, and Mayor James Chapline declared March 11, "Tim
Hagele Day". Tim was remembered for his generous, kind, faithful volunteer spirit
giving selflessly of his time, love and service.
Tim passed to his rest on his birthday, Friday, March 11, 2016. He was
preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by 8 cousins and a host of
friends.
