During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as Lieutenant, seeing action aboard a LST910 in the Pacific.
In 1951, he opened Hallman Printing and Office Supply from which he retired in 1979. Billy was an active and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Cleburne, where he served as a deacon and on many committees. Billy was also an active member of the community during the years; serving a president and director of the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce, director for the Cleburne Industrial Foundation, and director of Cleburne National Bank. He was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason.
His family, friends and colleagues will fondly remember that he could faithfully be found each morning drinking coffee at the Chaf-In and visiting with friends. Billy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. One of his greatest sources of pride and joy came from his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his extended family. His family was so important to him. Each has many wonderful memories of this life well spent. His older brother, Leroy, was his best friend and someone for whom he had much love and respect. Billy loved ranching and raising registered Angus cattle. He and Leroy were partners for many years in the cattle business. Then, in later years, he and his son, Jim, continued the Angus operation. Billy was a member of the American Angus Association and Texas Angus Association.
He will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord, his family, and his country; a man of great integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic. Billy will be missed by so many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Willa Hallman and sister-in-law, Betty Hallman.
