Melvin “Butch” Harris
A graveside service for Melvin “Butch” Harris, 69, of Rio Vista, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 in Rio Vista Cemetery. His son, Melvin Harris, Jr., will officiate. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Melvin Harris, Jr., Tammy Watson, Ryan Minnick, Dustin Harris, Josh Minnick, and Taylor Reid.
Butch passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in Rio Vista, Texas. He was born Nov. 9, 1944 in Waco, Texas to Maxine Gann Harris and Ed Harris. Butch served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad and later retired from Supreme Corporation. Butch was a member of First Baptist Church Rio Vista.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Bill McNeely; and son-in-law, Kyle Minnick, Sr.
He is survived by his son, Melvin Harris, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Rio Vista; daughter, Tammy Watson and husband David of Cleburne; sister, Barbara Jo Finley and husband Gary of Sour Lake, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Minnick, Dustin Harris, Josh Minnick, and Taylor Reid and husband Matt; and great-granddaughter, Gracie Ann Michelle Reid
