Glenna Hedgecock (Chapman)
Glenna Chapman Hedgecock, 95, a former resident of the North Platte Valley, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in Keene, Texas. Glenna was born on April 28, 1919, in rural Scottsbluff County to Bertha Segebartt Chapman and Charles Chapman.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
The Segebartt family was a large family. Her grandmother gave birth to 17 children with 12 living to adulthood. Glenna had 45 first cousins. Only one of these cousins survives her.
In August, 1941, Glenna married Willis Hedgecock. They had two children, Phyllis Hedgecock Hobbs and George Hedgecock.
Glenna was an elementary school teacher for many years. Her first teaching job was in a rural school in Banner County, Nebraska. She also taught in Torrington, Wyoming, Lyman, Nebraska, and Pharr-San Juan, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Hedgecock; son, George Hedgecock; brother, Ray Chapman; and sister, Ruth Chapman Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Hedgecock Hobbs and husband, Clem of Keene. Texas; four grand children, eleven great grandchildren. And three great-great grand children.
Glenna was a member of the Keene Seventh Day Adventist Church.
