Helen (Huddleston) Hawkins-Johnston left this world on July 4, 2023, at her home in Cleburne, Texas. She was born in Baird, Texas to Owen and Annie (Crockett) Huddleston on August 17, 1946. Helen was the youngest of thirteen children.
Helen was retired from Johnson & Johnson and spent her days buried in a book or watching old Matlock reruns on TV. Helen was always up for a good time and would beat you in a game of darts, any chance she got. She also loved to bartend and have a Bloody Mary. She met a lot of her closest friends while bartending. Helen loved her only daughter, Gena, fiercely and spending time with her was one of her greatest pleasures. She also loved picking on her son-in-law, Jim.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Owen and Annie Huddleston; son, Jerry Wayne Hawkins; and eleven older siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Gena DeLaGarza and husband Jimmy of Cleburne; older brother Thomas Huddleston of San Angelo; grandsons Robert Hawkins and wife Fanci of Lipan, Justin Baze and wife Lacey of College Station; granddaughters Candiss Baze and husband Jimmy of North Richland Hills, Sharanda Page DeLaGarza and husband Jonathon of Cleburne. Helen is also survived by her six "little best friends," great grandchildren, Kenidi Baze, Payton Hoffman, David and Aleigha Fisher, and Reagan and Brazos Baze.
At Helen's final wishes, a celebration of life event will be planned by the family at a later date. Her remains will be buried alongside her son, Jerry.
