Graveside services for Roger Lester Hill, Sr., 65, of Fort Worth, Texas, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Cleburne. The Reverend Donald Earl will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, October 25, 2019, at Rosser Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Pollard, Willie Pollard Jr., Derick Simmons, Bryson Bailey, Cary Hill III, Johnnie Ellis Jr. and Christopher Bailey.
Roger Lester Hill, Sr. passed away, Monday, October 14, 2019 in Fort Worth and was born August 31, 1954 in Cleburne, Texas to Sarah Marie (Kelly) and Cary Hill II.
Roger, better known as “Spanky” was employed for more than a decade at the old Santa Fe Railroad. He loved his family, fishing, and visiting with friends. His smile was always genuine and he had a big heart. Roger, Sr. was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved the Lord and was a god-fearing man.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Claudia Pollard.
Roger Lester Hill is survived by his wife, Beverly Hill of Fort Worth; his only son, Roger Lester Hill Jr. and wife, Crista, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepchildren, Derick Simmons and Devetra Simmons, both of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Anna Dennis and husband Ryan of Lubbock, Texas, Donovan Roger Hill, Ryan and Rachel Diemert, all of Colorado Springs; along with stepchildren, Denisha, Alayna, Anaya, Destiney, Daniel, Breanna, Derian, Derrick Jr., Darius and Serenity, all of Fort Worth; sisters, Carla Pollard and Marti Bailey of Cleburne; brothers, Cary Hill III and wife, Linda, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Johnnie Ellis Jr. and wife, Jackie, of Fort Worth; special friends, David Gayle, Ricky Robinson, Anthony Pollard, and David “Buck” Hammonds; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him.
