Joseph Stone, 60, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 28, 2022 after a 15 year battle with cancer. Joe is survived by his wife Cheryl of 18 years; his mother Sue; his two daughters - Carolyn and her spouse Eric; Kathleen and her spouse Taylor; his grandchildren - Stone and Fallon; his sister Beth Lewis, and numerous other beloved relatives and friends. He is predeceased in death by his father, Dial Stone.
Joe was a fighter and did things his way.
He was told cancer would only give him 2 more years, but he fought it for over 15 years. Many didn’t even know he was battling because, well…he truly didn’t let it set him back. In fact, he thrived (even when the medicine tried to slow him down). He became a master scuba diver who experienced the beauty of the ocean & shared it with many others, flew his very own plane, sailed the seas in his sail boat, built his own Cobra car, took some amazing trips on his motorcycle….and the list goes on. When Joe set his mind to something, he did it…and he did it BIG!
Joe's servant heart showed as he worked, and retired from, the Arlington Police Department after 25 years. Joe was a man of little words but it was obvious he was a family man and would do anything for family and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Oaks Event Center at the Southern Oaks Golf complex on Sunday, January 8, 2023. An awesome 3 member Police Honor Guard and many people from all walks of his life were present. His cousin Chris Bradley and uncle Rick Stone both spoke short insights into Joe's life.
Joe was loved, respected, and a great inspiration. He is greatly missed.
