Elvis “Lowell” Joslin
Funeral services for Elvis “Lowell” Joslin, 89, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charles Payne will officiate; assisted by the Rev. Wayne Shuffield.
He will be laid to rest in Greenacres Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Scott Joslin, Chris Joslin, Paul Joslin, Timothy Joslin, William Lain, and Dillon Lain.
Elvis “Lowell” Joslin went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on May 12, 2012. He was born in Johnson County on May 31, 1922. He married Evelyn “Lorece” Revier on April 29, 1941 in Cleburne, Texas. They were married 71 years and blessed with two sons, Michael and Dan. During Lowell’s life, he proudly served in the United States Army during WWII from 1943 until 1946. He served in the 754th Tank Battalion in the South Pacific earning the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze star, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medals. He later worked at General Dynamics and owned a broom and mop factory in Cleburne. The majority of Lowell’s working life was with the Santa Fe Railroad where he worked for over 30 years as a machinist and motor car maintainer. He retired in 1982. After retirement, Lowell enjoyed spending his time working on projects in his shop, as well as working at his farm where he raised cattle and planted a garden. He and Lorece also enjoyed going on mission trips with their church meeting needs and sharing the Lord’s word. Lowell was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Lowell was a humble man who loved his Lord with all of his heart, and was a role model for all. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annie; brother, Hollis; sisters, Alline and Billie.
He is survived by his wife, Lorece; sons, Michael and wife, Sybil, Dan and wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Scott and wife, Christina, Chris, Timothy and wife, Cindy, Paul and wife, Kate, Tamara and husband, William Lain, and Cindia Winsett; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The Family of Lowell Joslin would like to extend a special “thank you” to the medical staff at Texas Health Resources in Cleburne and to the Nurses at Community Hospice in Burleson who cared for Lowell. We deeply appreciate the care he was given in his final days and hours.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made to Operation Blessing in Cleburne, as Lowell Cared deeply for those in need.
