Joyace Janell Romero, 69, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday May 18, 2022 at Heritage Trails Nursing Home.
Janell was born to Melvin Earl Hall and Hariett Elaine Hall on May 24, 1952, in Marysville California. In 1986, Janell met the love of her life, John, and after a few years of dating they wed on August 26, 1989. Together Janell and John shared a mutual love for the Lord. They were a blended family, as John had his son Nick, from his previous marriage. As Janell would say, Nick is her son, there is no step to it. Then on June 29, 1990, John and Janell were blessed with the arrival of a baby girl, Rachael. Janell was blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home Mom, and raise Rachael while John provided for the family. Janell would tell you that being a mother was the hardest but most rewarding job she ever had. Rachael from the beginning was a fiery, hard headed, and strong-willed child, who has always had a mind of her own. She was always keeping John and Janell on their toes. Janell was also blessed to be able to help raise her two Grandsons, Santana and Izrael. Being MiMi was her second favorite job, she loved her boys with every fiber of her being.
In her free time, Janell loved to journal and to study and write scripture. She also loved to sing and praise the Lord in dance. She enjoyed serving in different positions in her church, like leading recovery and overcomer groups. If there was ever one word that could best describe Janell, it would be Overcomer. Throughout her life Janell overcame many trials. Janell’s entire life is a testimony of what God can bring you through if you trust in him and walk in faith. In her life, she overcame addictions, bad relationships, sickness, and numerous health issues. Janell had a fierce love for the Lord, and was such a positive person to be around. Her personality radiated joyfulness. She could be going through one of the roughest seasons of life, and she would say, it’s alright, God will bring me through it. If you gave Janell the chance to talk, she would tell you all about her Jesus, and what he had done for her. Janell had a boldness for Christ, and walked in her faith daily. In her life, Janell never met a stranger. She had a way to open people up, and get them to talk. Even in her last days, she could be found wheeling around the nursing home giving away her jewelry, just to put smiles on the ladies faces. Janell had fought a long hard battle with cancer and COPD. In March after losing her husband John, her earthly body became much weaker. Her spirit though, had never been stronger. She knew she was going to meet the Lord; she would finally get her wings. I bet she probably even asked God if she could bedazzle her new wings, and add some glitter.
Janell is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Harriet “Sally” Hall, and her husband of 33 years, Johnny Joe Romero.
Those left to cherish her memory, her daughter Rachael Hignight and husband Mike of Joshua, her stepson Nick Romero and wife Megan of Fort Worth, her brother Jerry Hall and wife Lynn of Seaside, Oregon, her sister-in-law Margie Castillo and husband Sabino of Duncanville, sister-in-law Janie Orozco of Dallas, brother-in-law Jesse Romero and wife Brenda of Waxahachie, Janell’s four grandchildren, Santana and brother Izrael of Joshua, Kaylee and brother Tate of Memphis, Tennessee, as well as many nephews and nieces. If Janell could speak to us all from beyond the gates of Heaven, she would ask us one question. Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
Viewing and Visitation will be held on Saturday May 21, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas.
Janell’s Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday May 22, 2022 at 2 pm at The Church at Union Hill located at 1733 Conveyor Drive, Joshua, Texas 76058.
Donations can be made in Janell’s honor to Gideon’s International, to spread the love of Jesus Christ through the donation of Bibles around the World. Flowers can be sent to Rosser Funeral Home.
