Obituary for Olivia Pearl ""Ollie Pearl" or "Polly"" Kouns (Alderman)

Funeral services for Ollie Pearl “Polly” Alderman Kouns, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Glen Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery.
DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, VISITATION HAS BEEN MOVED TO ROSSER FUNERAL HOME. IT IS STILL SCHEDULED FROM 6 TO 8 P.M. FRIDAY, NOV. 7, 2014.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Cherry, Brad Cooksley, Jim Cooksley, Steve Kouns, Doug Donery and Ron Layland.
Born Olivia Alderman, she came into the world on April 15, 1916, led a full life and passed away quietly on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the age of 98.
She has gone now to join her husband of 58 years, Irwin “Si” Kouns; her parents, Sue Willie Fancher Alderman and Benjamin Ward Alderman; her brother, Dee Ward Alderman and wife, Doris; and sisters, Lorene Blacklidge and husband, Bob and Verna Donery and husband, Joseph. Known as ‘Momma’, ‘Granny’, ‘Ollie Pearl’ and ‘Aunt Polly’, she touched the lives of everyone who met her.
She was a life-long resident of Cleburne, graduating from Cleburne High in 1933 as an “Adams Angel” and later married her childhood friend and the love of her life, Irwin Andrew Kouns in 1939. This remarkable woman let nothing slow her down. When faced with heart problems at the age of 80, she braved the odds, underwent a heart valve replacement and exceeded expectations to continue on and care for anyone who needed a hand or a meal or just a hug.
Those she left behind include her daughter, Andrea Shanks; granddaughter, Kendrea Cherry and husband, Jeremy; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jaxon and Julissa; numerous generations of nieces and nephews; and so many friends.
She will be remembered and greatly missed, but her life and contributions to the lives of others will be celebrated for years to come. As one of her nephews said, “I was so fortunate to have her in my life; everyone should have an ‘Aunt Polly”.
