Funeral services for Wanda Ruth Land, 79, of Cleburne, Texas will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Henderson Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Eddie Freeman will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Henderson Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Land passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas at Harris Hospital due to complications of a stroke.
Wanda was born Aug. 27, 1933 in Cleburne, Texas to Curtis and Letha (Bilton) Rogers.
After graduating from Cleburne High School, Wanda attended Brantly- Drawn business school in Dallas, Texas for two years. She worked for Dr. Elmo Clark as his receptionist and then was the chief clerk at the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 17 years until her retirement. She has been a member of the Henderson Street Baptist Church her entire life and was very involved in serving the Lord with her friends in her fellowship class. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Wanda presented outstanding values and morals and was always dressed to the 9’s, lending a hand to her friends and family, and always having a kind word and great expression to those she encountered. Wanda enjoyed shopping, traveling, card night with friends, the closeness of her neighbors, and being with her daughter while growing up. Wanda was a disciple for the Lord and He granted her with a long beautiful life filled with love and joy all around her. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her parents; half sister, June Frericks of Olympia, Washington; and half brother, Junior Rogers of Fort Worth.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Calvin Land; daughter, Susan Land, both of Cleburne; brother, Conrad Rogers; nephew, Keith Rogers of Burleson; great niece and nephew, Tiffany and Tyler Rogers, of Cleburne; aunt, Lillian Joslin of Cleburne; best friends, Lois Brewer of Lubbock, Texas and Glenna West of Cleburne; numerous other relatives, friends and grand-dogs, Gwennie, Raven, Charley, and Russell.
