Our dear mother, Linda Rae (Carrelli) Lawson, left this world peacefully on July 4, 2023, in Sachse, Texas, at the age of 76.
Linda was born on June 10, 1947, to Ray and Mickey (Marion Rose) Carrelli in Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her younger brother, Gary, attended grade school in the Village of Indian Hill. After graduating from Miami University of Ohio with a bachelor's degree in education, she pursued employment in the specialty of speech and hearing therapy. In 1973, Linda moved to Texas with her first husband after the birth of their first child, Anthony Hughes. In 1974, their second child, Sharon (Hughes) Porter was born. In 1985 while living in Burleson, Linda met and married John C. Lawson. She and Johnny celebrated the birth of their son, David Lawson, in 1986.
After a thirty-five-year career with Alcon Laboratories in Customer Service, Linda retired in 2013. During that time and since retirement, she served in various roles as a member of Heritage of Faith Christian Center. Our mother demonstrated a servant's heart, visiting patients alongside the chaplain at John Peter Smith Hospital, volunteering at Next Step Women's Center, teaching children the Word of God on Wednesdays and Sundays, and most recently serving residents at a local skilled nursing facility through music and Bible study. Her kindness and empathy touched many lives. Out of the overflow of her heart, she shared her faith in Christ Jesus with family and friends, young and old. She relished songs and books about Jesus, she delighted in studying the Bible and praising God through music. Additionally, Linda was blessed to walk in the footsteps of Jesus during an exciting trip to Israel! Linda's other passion was her grandchildren - being an involved "Mimi" to them brought her tremendous joy.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Johnny. She is survived by her son Anthony Hughes and his wife Nikkisa; by her son David Lawson and his wife Amber; by her daughter Sharon (Hughes) Porter and her husband Timothy; by her stepdaughter Casey (Lawson) Florez, by her stepson Tony Lawson; by her brother Gary Carrelli and his wife Melissa; by her four precious grandchildren, Benjamin Porter, Ethan Porter, Gabriel Boling, and DJ Lawson; by her former spouse Thomas Hughes and by other family members.
