Obituary for James Alton "Jim" Looper

James Alton (Jim) Looper, 76, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Ft. Worth, TX. He was born in Cleburne, where he lived most of his life, on July 9, 1941 to H.F. and Dora Sanders Looper. Jim married the love of his life, Marva Jo Reed on June 17, 1967 and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 15, 2017 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Bryce Donaldson will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremiah and Joshua Stone, AJ, Bradley, Bryce and Brent Donaldson and Warren Duke. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, TX.
Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a specialist heavy vehicle driver. While enlisted, he served overseas and received the sharpshooter commendation. After leaving the military Jim returned home to Cleburne where he worked for many years and retired from the City of Cleburne as the water treatment plant supervisor. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He and Jo enjoyed spending time at the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Jo Looper of Weatherford, TX; sons, Mike Donaldson of Cleburne; Alan Donaldson and wife Holly of Weatherford, TX; Hank Stone and wife Susan of Glenwood Springs, CO; daughter, Rayna Zachary of Cleburne; grandchildren, Jeremiah and Joshua Stone, AJ, Bradley, Bryce, and Brent Donaldson, Sarah Duke, Sydney and Hannah Brown; ten great grandchildren; brother, Darryl Looper of Cleburne; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan Donaldson Stone, and brother Jackie Looper.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project, Disabled American Veterans, or American Legion.
