Obituary for James William Maltby

James Maltby of Cleburne, Texas passed from this earthly life on March 3, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born in Freer, Texas on May 21, 1941, to Glenn and Louise (Pace) Maltby. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Rosser Funeral Home, Cleburne, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 2 PM at the Desdemona Garden of Memories Cemetery in Desdemona, Texas where he had lived for many years prior to returning to Cleburne last fall.
Mr. Maltby was a proud member of the Fighting Aggie Class of 1963 where he earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in Accounting. He received his Masters of Business Administration in Accounting in 1968.
Mr. Maltby was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for many years as a cost account, which is what brought he and his family to Cleburne in 1971. He retired from BNSF in the late 1990’s. For a few years he operated a Jackson Hewitt Tax office in Stephenville, Texas. He held a few other jobs to stay busy, finally retiring for good in 2017. For many years he served as a volunteer with Junior Achievement in Topeka, Kansas while still with Santa Fe. He was an avid reader; he also enjoyed target shooting, his dogs, and Aggie Football.
Mr. Maltby was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Ken Maltby.
Survivors include his two daughters, Debby Miller of Cleburne and Kim Johnson and husband, Tommy, of Burleson; two sisters, Glenda Sharp and Beverly Smith; grandchildren, Ashley O’Flaherty and husband Jarod, Brandon Glass and wife Sarah, Scott Johnson, Alex Miller and wife Milli, Morgan Miller, Sarah Morris and husband Matt, and Sam Miller; along with six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with his former wife, Wanda and his girlfriend, Patty Rinehart.
