Obituary for
Margaret Morris Marti (Bohannon)
Funeral services for Margaret Morris Marti, 83, of Cleburne, Texas, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at Field Street Baptist Church. Dr. John Hall will officiate; assisted by the Rev. John Glover.
Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon Wednesday prior to the service at Field Street Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Marty Stringer, Doug McFadin, David Morris, Charles Morris, Rick Gaskin, Philip Willoz and Chance Willoz.
Honorary pallbearers are E.J. Barnes, Bill Dick Stringer, Ben Hall, Loyal Tutle, Pete Hobby, Bob Alford, Adam King, Keith Johnson, Joel Victory and their spouses.
Mrs. Marti passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at her home. She was born Jan. 13, 1932 in Clovis, New Mexico, the daughter of Edith (Brown) and Joseph K. Bohannon.
Margaret was a secretary/bookkeeper at Cleburne High School and had previously worked at Navajo Communications in Grandview, Texas and as a medical receptionist for Drs. Filardi and Rice in Cleburne.
She was a member of Field Street Baptist Church since 1956, and was a member of the Adult I Sunday School Department.
Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Morris and second husband, George Marti.
Described as a gracious lady with a servant’s heart, Margaret was often the first to sense a need of another and to step forward to help meet that need. Always an encourager, she brought organization and planning to any event. Margaret was loved and well respected by those who knew her.
In her earlier years, she and Jim had been active members of the Satellite Camping Club and the Curli-Q Square Dancing Club. They entered 42 tournaments and enjoyed traveling. They made various mission trips for the church, where she helped with Bible Schools and food preparation while the men did construction and made needed repairs to church facilities.
Margaret was a faithful companion to her second husband, George Marti, when he attended meetings across the nation and was often his partner in financial donations.
She served as president of Johnson County Republican Women and was on the Board of Directors of Plaza Theatre.
Margaret was especially helpful to school children, providing funds for camps and events.
She is survived by her sons, Ben Morris and wife, Jacque, of Cleburne, Wendell Morris and wife, Dottie, of North Richland Hills, Texas and Jimbo Morris and wife, Nancy, of Kerens, Texas; step-children, Wes Marti of Cleburne, Michelle Marti of Cleburne and Dr. Pam Lilly of White Fish, Montana; sister, Laura Helen Willoz; grandchildren, Wendi Guillaume and husband, Ben, Michele Morris, 1st Lt. Matthew Morris and wife, Melissa, Edi Cody and husband, Brennan, Christina Morris, Margie Morris and Gabrielle Morris; and many other family members and friends.
