Mass of Christian Burial for Maria L. Martinez, 96, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father John Cornelius will officiate.
Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hector Jasso, Sr., Gilberto M. Perez, Joe Reyes, Luis Reyes, Luis Torres, Marcus Menchaca and Victor Amaya. Honorary pallbearers will be Luis Lorenzo Correa and Pablo Jasso.
The Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017, officiated by Petra Garcia.
Maria passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at her home in Cleburne. She was the daughter of a revolutionary solider, Julio Martinez and Maria Isabel Fernandez. Maria was born on July 17, 1920 in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico.
She enjoyed growing up on her family's farm with her brothers and sisters, Alfonso, Elena, Manuel, and Ermenlinda.
She married Jose Rito Jasso, a railroader, and was a homemaker during this time. After being left a widow Maria went to live in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua with her children.. She adored her family and loved being able to travel to enjoy her grandchildren. Maria also enjoyed making crochet crafts for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great grandson, Aaron Marquez; brothers, Alfonso Martinez and Manuel Fernandez; son-in-law, Juan Laguna; and nieces, Abelina and Carolina Fernandez.
Maria is survived by her children, Catalina Marquez of El Paso, Texas, Alicia Jasso- Martinez of Riverside, Calif., Antonio Jasso of Clint, Texas, Jose Rito Jasso, Hector Jasso of Cd Juarez, Mexico and Irma Laguna of Cleburne.
She also leaves all of her 53 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren with unforgettable memories of love.
