Mary Jo Brock

A caring nurse, kind friend, patient wife, giving mother and grandmother, and devoted family member that greatly loved her many animals, tending her gardens, and the reading of many books.

Mary Jo Chandler Brock, 73, of Alvarado, TX, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 12, at her family home. She was born in Stephenville, TX in 1950 to Joseph and Christine Chandler. She wanted to be a nurse from a very young age and has always been a lover of animals. Mary Jo and Dale were married on June 19, 1971, in Stephenville. Mary Jo attended nursing school at TCU, graduating in 1972, and became a registered nurse. She later attended graduate school at TWU to earn a M.S. in Nursing. She worked at Harris Hospital in downtown Fort Worth for 44 years as a CVICU nurse, clinical nurse specialist, a nd cardiovascular nurse director. She was a lifelong learner, especially of plants, holistic medicine, and aromatherapy. She loved her home in Alvarado where she spent many great times with her family and friends and helped care for the many animals that found their way to the Brock Farm. Mary Jo was a kind and giving soul to all that walked into her world. She was devoted to her friends and family members, immediate and distant. She loved the Lord and lived with kindness as an example of His light in this world.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her son Allen Brock, parents Joseph & Christine Chandler, in-laws Jake and Ola Mae Brock, brother-in-law, Briggs Twyman, niece Tana Spross Heckel, and nephew Bryce Crippen.

Mary Jo is survived by husband Dale Brock, daughter Sarah Risinger, son-in-Law Ryan Risinger, grandson Jakob Sigala; siblings: Susan Chandler Lafont, Randy & Mary Chandler, Donna & Harvey Spross, Diana & Mike Stasey, Dwain & Lynn Brock; nieces & nephews and their families: Emily Lafont, Chris & Holly Lafont, Amy Crippen, Taylor & Caroline Chandler, Joey Chandler, Danielle & Nick Arnold, Gina & Vince Margiotta, Lance & Kim Spross, Jeven & Tanya Stasey, Mendy & Scott Mick, Kim & Jason Sharp, Zack & Deepika Brock, Tyler & Jenny Brock, and many dear co-workers, neighbors, friends, and furry companions.

A private funeral mass for Mary Jo Brock, 73, of Alvarado, Texas will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 200 N. Nolan River Rd in Cleburne, Texas with Father Scott Wooten officiating.

Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the West End Cemetery, 1333 W. Washington Street in Stephenville, Texas. (Entrance to cemetery is on S. Lillian St.) Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Risinger, Jakob Sigala, Taylor Chandler, Joey Chandler, Bryson Crippen, Geno Baldwin, and Fernando Olizaba.
