Liane Mathews of Cleburne, Texas passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020, filled with the assurance that she is deeply loved by God and by her family. Born Mary Liane Pearman, to parents Chester and Mary Jane Pearman, on June 6, 1941. Liane was 79 years old at the time of her death.
Liane was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She grew up in Kennett, Missouri, where she and her older brother, Tim, and her cousin, David could often be found getting into all kinds of mischief. As a student at Kennett High School, she participated in student council, the high school band, and was even crowned the Cotton Queen. She started nursing school upon graduation from high school, but chose to stay home to raise a family rather than finish. Once her children reached their early teenage years, she went back to nursing school while continuing to raise a family. She graduated from nursing school in 1980. Liane spent many years as a registered nurse, doing the challenging and rewarding work of serving in a Heart Cath lab in Houston. She loved the long hours and high energy work because it made such a significant difference is so many lives.
Liane and her first husband, Don Chailland, raised two children, Mitch and Kim. In their early years, they lived in Missouri, but eventually made a move to Kingwood, Texas. Texas has been Liane’s home ever since. As a mother, Liane committed herself to her children, serving as girl scout leader and room mom, hand making Halloween costumes, and ensuring that each child had what they needed.
Liane met her second husband, Fred Mathews, while living in Houston, but they spent the last years of their marriage in San Antonio. During the years of their marriage, they each worked hard at their careers and enjoyed time at home with their dogs - PJ, Chipper, and Button.
Liane was filled with creativity. She was always making something from a special Halloween costume to an intricate cross stitch piece to handmade greeting cards. When she wasn’t making something, she was reading one of her many mystery novels.
All told, Liane lived a full life, surrounded by family who loved her. For her life and her legacy, we are thankful.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Grandmother Wininger, her parents, her son, Chester Chailland, and her husband, Fred Mathews.
